When you're walking through Ball Cemetery, you'll notice that the trees have been deliberately planted in very straight lines. They march away down the cemetery in symmetrical rows, and it creates a majestic effect in this rural setting. I'm not sure what kind of trees they are, but they're different than the other trees in our area. I'm not a horticulturist so I'm guessing...cedars, maybe?

What they do remind me of, is a classic ghost story called "The Thirteenth Tree," by R. H. Malden.  You can find this short story in one of my favorite anthology books, "Edward Gorey's Haunted Looking Glass."  Wonderful stuff.
