This obelisk stands right outside Fairview Cemetery, at the top of a scenic view; turn left just as you are about to enter the cemetery, and it's right there. It commemorates Lincoln's visit to the area, in the years before he became President. The visit had vast consequences for the Omaha/Council Bluffs area, since he later designated it as the eastern terminus of the railroad and paved the way for all the expansion that came later.
